Weekend Update

Last week, I went to the Pacific Northwest for our Open House events for Mrs. Fields. Grammuh was kind enough to come to Logan for a couple of days to watch the boys while I was away and Chris had to work. The boys had a great time and didn't seem to miss me at all.

Wednesday and Thursday were spent with the MFFB group, then on Thursday evening, Chris flew into Seattle to meet me. We went out to dinner with my co-workers, then stayed the night in Seattle.

On Friday morning, Chris and I drove up to Lake Stevens to visit my grandparents, Nonny and Bob, at their RV site at Lake Connor Park. We enjoyed a tasty lunch at one of our favorite Italian restaurants, Luca's, then spent the rest of the afternoon berry-picking, hiking, and general relaxing back at Lake Connor Park. Our blackberry adventures were somewhat treacherous, with everyone, especially Nonny, coming out wounded from the prickly vines of the blackberry patch. Despite our scratches, we were rewarded with a bounty of fresh, ripe blackberries, which we used to top our dessert and breakfast!

The four of us enjoyed a delicious dinner at Anthony's on the waterfront in Everett on Friday evening. One of the things we really miss about living in Washington is the great seafood!

Later that evening, Chris, Bob and Nonny enjoyed a delicious dessert of fresh blackberries and vanilla ice cream.

Our trip ended much too soon as we headed back to Salt Lake on Saturday morning. We spent the rest of the day on Saturday hanging out at Chris's parents house with the boys. It really was great to see our two little sweeties after being gone for a few days!

Saturday night marked the start of the Utah football season, so the boys and Chris were all decked out in their Utah gear. (Thanks to Grammuh for picking up new shirts for the boys!) The Utes played their first game against UCLA and unfortunately, came up short. It's always tough to start the season with a loss, but at least they have a whole season to improve. Chris also felt happy that at least BYU lost as well (sorry to all you cougar fans...)!

Now we're home again and I feel very grateful that I have Labor Day off to recuperate from my travels and get organized again! We don't really have any huge Labor Day plans, but I'm sure we'll come up with something.
