Dancin' in the Moonlight

The boys were a little restless before bed, so we turned up the tunes and had a dance party in the living room. I tried to video Thomas, but he's big and fast enough that my somewhat slow digital camera couldn't keep up with him bouncing from couch to couch. I did get some great footage of Gordon, though, and may I just say that I could watch him dance all night! It's hilarious the way he does his little squats-- I just get such a huge kick out of it.

Here's the one shot of Tom jamming on the couch. Kind of funny, huh?

A couple of songs later, Gordon decided that he was tired of wearing his PJ top and took it off. He was dancing around with it and being so silly that I just had to take pictures. What crazy kids!

Naturally Spikey

Before I became a mom, I imagined that my children would look very similar to those striking kids you see in Gap ads. You know, the boys with the silky, naturally curly hair. Well, cute as my boys are, they won't be modeling any time soon, and I swear, it's their hair to blame! All I had to do tonight when I got them out of the tub was comb their hair straight back. No gel, no mousse, nothing-- it just spikes naturally! Tom's is a little more tame than Gordon's, but both of them have those thick, bone-straight locks that came right from Chris. Oh well, maybe they won't be child models, but I sure think they're adorable. Posted by Picasa

New Template

It's 10:00 PM and I'm lounging in my cozy recliner, feet up, and my laptop warming my legs, as I update my new blog template. The boys have been in bed for an hour and a half now, but their messes from the day are still scattered about the living room and kitchen. The air smells like our fajita dinner and I lazily wonder if I remembered to put the leftover rice in the fridge. I hear the sound of the garage door open and in walks Chris, his happy end-of-the-day smile on his face.

"I haven't done anything," I say, apologizing for the mess.

Chris just smiles and says, "Don't worry about it," then gives me one of those great kisses.

Now he's in the kitchen and I can hear the sound of plates and silverware clinking together as they're placed in the dishwasher. I'm still here, sitting in my chair, blogging away. It's a great life. :)

Lunchtime

Today was my first session as a lunchtime volunteer with Tom's kindergarten class and it went...not so well. When I arrived at EBLS, the kindergarten class was having PE in the gym and they all (including Tom) looked like they were having a great time. As soon as Tom spotted me, however, he did a complete 180 and turned into a whiny, clingy little stinker. Needless to say, the rest of the lunchtime was filled with tears and whines, with the end result being his teacher kindly asking me to refrain from volunteering for a while. The most frustrating part of the afternoon was when lunchtime was over and the kids got in a line to go to their Spanish class-- I told Tom to go get in line while I helped another little boy with his lunch tray. By the time the little boy was finished and got into line, Tom had forgotten about me and was having fun with some other kids. I hid behind some other adults and watched as he happily marched off to Spanish class. It's too bad I can't just hide the whole time I'm volunteering, but at least I know that when I'm not around, he really does have a good time.

The kids were at the gym, so I took the moment to take a picture of Tom's cute classroom.

I love the gym at this school-- and the kids were having a blast getting all of their energy out before lunch.

Here's my little non-eater. Note the little hives on his forehead-- that's what happens when he cries a lot. Brother.

When I got home, Chris made me a yummy turkey sandwich and I ate lunch in the pleasant company of Chris and little Gord. Posted by Picasa

Labor Day Picnic

This morning, we decided to go on an afternoon picnic at Willow Park in Logan to celebrate Labor Day. We hadn't been to this park before and we weren't disappointed! I was very impressed with the wide variety of playground equipment and the huge park gave us plenty of space, even though there were lots of people there. We ate our picnic lunch of sandwiches, fruit (Gordon's newest word: "grape"), chips and cookies, then the boys had a great time chasing the bubbles Chris blew. After that, it was on to the playground. Tom and Gordon loved the merry-go-round and the teeter-totter, and Chris and I even tried out this funky red chair that spins when you sit in it. It doesn't look like much, but it really is fun-- and I found it difficult to stand up when I got out! Chris had to work this afternoon, so we weren't able to stay too long. A picnic at the park was the perfect way to spend our last day of summer!

Here's Tom when we said "Okay, it's time to go!" You can tell by his face how happy he was about that! Posted by Picasa
