On Friday night, the boys got to test out their costumes at the Youth Conservatory's Halloween carnival at Utah State. They were so excited-- especially about the make-up and black spray-in hair dye. Gordon was quite serious about the whole thing. He wouldn't smile for the camera, instead giving me his best menacing Luigi face.
Watch out, you Bowsers and Donkey Kongs! The Mario Brothers are here!
The carnival itself was pretty fun, though very crowded. The boys' costumes were most appreciated by the college students and other parents, people who remember and appreciate classic Nintendo. I'm not biased or anything, but I think my kids had the best costumes there!
There were a bunch of games for the kids and lots of candy for prizes. Thomas also played his recital piece and, as usual, did a great job. He forgot about the "bow at the end" part, so after he played his song, he just sat on the bench. His song was a kind of strange, off-key one (for Halloween, of course), so the audience didn't know for sure if he was finished or had forgotten the next part of the song. After about 30 seconds of complete silence (it seemed like longer), I went up to Thomas and patted his shoulder and quietly asked if something was wrong. He looked at me like I was crazy and said, "No, I'm just finished." I reminded him to bow and we both went back to our seats. I was a little bit embarrassed, but Thomas didn't think anything of it-- funny, huh?
All in all, it was a fun night and a great start to our Halloween festivities!

Those are awesome costumes! I too can remember the old Nintendo days. They are so much better than Halo and the other garbage that is out there. We need to bring Nintendo back! Yeah, let's do it! Okay, I'm rambling. Cute costumes though!
How freakin hilarious! Do they no Mario Bro's very well? I guess they must still be around. I don't play video games and Drew only plays sports. I love their costumes!
Thomas CRACKS me up! So funny... And I think those costumes ROCK. I have to tell you that yesterday your blog was up on my screen and Carter walked in and saw just the letters in the last post. He hadn't seen the lower pictures of your boys. He goes, "Hey! M for Mario and L for "wigi"!" I thought he was pretty brilliant. So you must have done good cause a 4 year old can tell exactly who your boys are.
He's either brilliant or maybe just wee bit too much wii.
They look awesome- haha Gordon doesn't look too shabby with thick eyebrows and a mustache either.
Ohh those are awesome costumes!!!
I love their costumes, especially Gord's serious face. That is funny about Tom's awkward pause. Kids are so funny, and clueless sometimes.
Such cute costumes! I still think fondly of Ninetendo, my kids loved it! If you can think of a costume for anything Atari, like a "pong" theme - send it my way for my hubby. (Maybe you're too young to remember pong?) Augh!
Love those costumes...you always come you with something great! =)
oh, i love the classic nintendo costumes! collin is going to be the ugliest Thomas costume out there, but oh well, i let him choose this year!
